My 5 year old son is really anxious as he had a bad dental experience.  How do you manage him?

Managing children for dental treatment is very different from treating adults. Children are different emotionally and physically. It’s important that children build up trust and a rapport with the dental team. This forms the basis of successful visits and improves their confidence in the dental environment. Some basic steps we take:

  • The first visit is a consultation and introduction to the dental environment
  • All members of the team individually greet your son in a friendly and caring manner
  • All steps of the visit are explained to your son in appropriate non-threatening language
  • Various behaviour management techniques are used to help • Future visits are explained to your son
  • We create a fun atmosphere that children want to be involved!
