Plaque build up

Plaque build up along the gum line can cause the gums to become dark red, puffy, inflammed and bleed on brushing. This is called ‘gingivitis’.

Continual plaque and tartar build up along the gumline can lead to ‘gum pockets’ forming which trap more plaque. Healthy bone supporting the tooth breaks down, causing teeth to become mobile. This is called ‘periodontitis’. 

With proper home care and professional treatment, gingivitis can be reversed.  The gumline becomes healthy again.
