Sedation with Local Anaesthetic in the Dental Chair

For some children who are anxious, sedation may be needed to perform their dental treatment. Sedation may be in the form of a liquid drink given orally or nitrous oxide gas.

Both forms require that your child is cooperative enough to have the drink or keep a nose piece delivering the nitrous oxide on their nose. Sedation can be used for some children to help them relax and allow dental treatment to be performed. They are still conscious and able to talk, answer questions and watch in a mirror.

Local anaesthetic with “The Wand™” is also used.
